Join Delaware Schools Consortium is Hiring an Athletic Trainer Near Delaware, DE

Overview The Athletic Trainer will work with medical professionals and coaches to evaluate athletes' condition. You should be motivated to assist athletes, coaches, and families realize their potential and possess a strong understanding of sports-related injuries and treatments. You should be caring, knowledgeable, and passionate about the success of your athletes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in athletic training and/or a valid state license or certification.
  • Minimum of three years of successful athletic training preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges athletes face, proper nutrition, sports injuries, and treatment options.
  • Understanding of first-aid treatments, massage, and physical therapy techniques and equipment.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and attentive.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, decision making, and communication skills.
  • Must be able to stand and work continuously for a minimum of 4 hours per workday.
  • Minimum lifting requirements- 50 pounds (with assistance).
  • Must be able to use arms and hands without restrictions to accommodate the physical, mobility, and ambulatory needs of students.
Months of Employment: 10 month position

Employment is conditional upon receipt of an acceptable criminal background report, a negative pre-employment drug screening and a child abuse registry check showing you are not on the registry at any level

Athletic Trainer Responsibilities:

  • Working with coaches, athletes, families, school nurses, and other medical professionals to evaluate the player's condition or injury.
  • Creating exercise and nutrition plans.
  • Speaking to coaches, family members, and athletes to set health and fitness goals.
  • Designing training and rehabilitation programs for athletes.
  • Using knowledge of sports-related injuries to diagnose and treat athletes.
  • Referring athletes to another doctor or other medical staff members.
  • Assisting and monitoring injured players as they heal and progress towards recovery.
  • Maintaining records relating to athlete condition and training, diet, and treatment plans.
  • Handling clerical tasks, such as maintaining emergency contact information for athletes, maintaining inventory, assisting with budgets, or restocking supplies.
  • Treat and manage athletic injuries before, during and after athletic activities
  • Attend home DMA athletic contests and away DMA football events. The Athletic Director may request coverage at other specified away events.
  • Set up equipment for practice and games
  • Teach students about what the job of an athletic trainer looks like including skills like basic first aid and CPR
  • Other duties as assigned by the Commandant, Athletic Director or Designee
